Joshua - Part 5

Aug 17, 2025    Pastor Mike Hendricks

The book of Joshua is a story of transition, breakthrough, and stepping into God’s promises. In Joshua 1, God calls His people to rise up, cross over, and receive their inheritance—but it requires courage, commitment, trust, and faith.

In this message, we explore three powerful truths:

Go Over This Jordan – Total Commitment

Crossing the Jordan meant there was no turning back. God invites us to step fully into His will, not half-heartedly, but with total commitment. Where He leads, He equips and anoints—but He also waits for our full “yes.”

You and All This People – Total Trust

Joshua had to trust God not only for himself but also for the entire nation. Trusting God with others, especially when leading them through challenges, requires surrendering opinions and leaning fully on His wisdom and ways.

To the Land I Am Giving Them – Total Faith

God’s promises are always bigger than what we can see. Like Abraham, Joshua had to believe beyond the natural and step out in faith to dispossess the enemy and inherit the land. Today, we face spiritual strongholds in our lives, but through faith, prayer, and the authority of Christ, we can overcome and take back what belongs to God.

This passage reminds us that God calls us to courage, trust, and faith as we step into His promises. When we submit to His authority and walk in obedience, He crushes the enemy under our feet and leads us into the fullness of His vision for our lives.

Key Scripture:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
